Samantha Davis, beloved wife of actor Warwick Davis and founder of the charity Little People UK, has passed away at the age of 53, her husband announced. Samantha, a pivotal figure both on-screen and in charitable endeavors, died on March 24.
Warwick Davis, renowned for his roles in Star Wars and Harry Potter, shared his grief over the loss of his “favourite human” whom he first met on the set of the 1988 film Willow. They married in 1991. “Her departure has created an irreplaceable void in our family. I profoundly miss her embraces,” he expressed.
Describing her as his staunchest ally, Warwick reflected on her bright outlook and humor: “Sammy had a radiant view of life and a sharp wit that even found delight in my poorest jokes.”
Their children, Harrison and Annabelle, also paid heartfelt tributes, emphasizing her role as a nurturing mother: “Our mom was our best friend, and we were privileged to be loved by her so deeply.”
Samantha had a successful acting career, appearing in Through the Dragon’s Eye and beside her husband in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Warwick credited her as his inspiration and support in his various projects including the Willow series and the quiz show Tenable. “She was my rock, making me feel invincible when she was by my side,” he stated.
It was Samantha who convinced comedian Ricky Gervais to include Warwick in the travel series An Idiot Abroad with Karl Pilkington, another highlight of her influence on his career.
Beyond acting, the couple founded Little People UK in 2012, aiming to support individuals with dwarfism and their families. Warwick admired her dedication to service: “Sammy was deeply committed to aiding others, always ready to listen without passing judgment.”
Despite recent challenges with her mobility, Samantha remained determined to live fully, her husband noted.
Disney, which aired the series Willow, recognized her significant contributions to the UK film and TV industry: “Samantha was a cherished member of our community, and our thoughts are with the Davis family during this profoundly difficult time.”
